Field studies

Field studies about wildfire effects on soil microorganisms involve a complex process due to high variability results that you can obtain from one cm of soil to the next one. But all result obtained by the monitoring of wildfire affected areas are really valuables.

Laboratory heating

High variability in field studies lead to researcher to look for other methods to isolate factors controlling microbial response after fire. Laboratory heating allows control the most of the factor that can influence microbial response and reveal some important aspects that can be disguised in field studies.
